About The Event
Kintsugi is the traditional Japanese technique of repairing broken, chipped, or cracked ceramics & decorating the joined parts with gold. The process is used to make sturdy repairs using non-toxic, food-safe materials, allowing people to take continued pleasure in the use of their beloved ceramic works.
The 500-year-old practice is not only aesthetic & functional, but philosophical too. By gluing a broken object back together, and painting the cracks with gold, repair becomes art, and the piece's flaws become its most beautiful parts.
We are happy to be hosting expert & artist Ai Moliya in a three-part Kintsugi workshop. She will guide us through the techniques of the ancient art & introduce us to its history. Ai will teach traditional methods using authentic materials.
